Corbin Foundation announces grants totaling $560,000
The Mary S. and David C. Corbin Foundation awarded $560,000 in grants and gifts to charities and charitable activities in the Akron and Summit County areas at its November trustees meeting.The recipient of the largest award was the Summa Akron City and St. Thomas Hospitals Foundation: $150,000 for a confocal laser scanning microscope.Other recipients included:• Act II Productions, $3,000 for Huck Finn’s Story and The Mirrorman performance royalties and scripts.• Akron Art Museum, $10,000 for its Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity: French Design for Living exhibition.• Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, $15,000 for transportation costs.• Akron Children’s Hospital, $25,000 for a NICU ventilator.• Akron International Friendship, $4,000 for its “Know Your Community — Know Your World” program.• Akron Rotary Camp for Crippled Children, $25,000 for its capital campaign.• Akron Roundtable, $500 contribution.• American Red Cross, Summit County chapter, $24,000 for a van for its Medical Transportation Service program.• Arthritis Foundation/Akron-Canton Regional Office, $2,500 contribution.• Beacon Journal Charity Fund, $10,000 for orthodontic treatment for needy Summit County children.• Bluecoats Inc.
